Visit my mobile site!

Since I am "the mobile technologies specialist" at work, my sense of dignity won't allow me not to have a mobile WAP site as well! :)

Visit http://wap.miksi.net/ with your WAP phone to see what's there.

Not a whole lot there yet, but go take a look anyway with your WAP phone. If your phone supports J2ME ("mobile Java") you can download a couple of free apps game from my WAP:

Montana
Montana (see web version for instructions) is my favourite card game and now you can download and play it on your mobile phone as well! Go to my WAP site's apps section to download the game. The game should work on just about any J2ME (MIDP1.0 compatible) phone, I've tested it with several Nokia devices, Palm devices and my SonyEricsson P800 as well. The game is most playable on large screen (e.g. Nokia 7650 and 3650) and touch screen devices (e.g. Palm and P800). Obviously it's most playable on P800. :) Here are a couple of screen shots from the mobile version running on a Series60 device (e.g. Nokia 7650 or 3650):

MIDPTester
MIDPTester, the other application available, is more of a utility tool for examining what kind of capabilities a Java (J2ME/MIDP) enabled device has. You can

  • view the general device MIDP platform information
  • view the graphics and input capabilities (screen size, number of colors, touch screen or not etc)
  • test the input capabilities(both keys and touch screen, if supported)
  • test what all the J2ME Form UI widgets look like on the device
  • test how "nicely" the device draws graphics on a Canvas
  • test what fonts are supported and what they look like
  • test what Java/J2ME APIs the device supports (MIDP2.0, WMA, MMA, Bluetooth API, Nokia UI API)
  • test the storage capability of the RMS
  • test if the MIDP2.0 platformRequest() function works or not

This application has worked on most of the higher-end (i.e. Symbian) devices I've tried, but doesn't seem to work with at least some older Nokia Series40 device (e.g. Nokia 6610 and similar). Give the MIDPTester a try and if it works (or not) on your device, let me know. Here are a couple of screen shots from the MIDPTester, running on a Series60 device (e.g. Nokia 7650 or 3650):
